As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I use Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy, an evidence-based, modern psychotherapeutic approach. It is a blended discipline of practical and well-researched strategies that help individuals make significant, positive changes in their lives based on the latest neuroscientific research.

Solution-focused Hypnotherapy is a listening and talking therapy that combines empowering solution-focused discussions, where the practitioner asks strength building and goal-oriented questions to help the client work out how to move forward. A relaxing trance state follows this, called ‘Hypnosis’, which allows the brain to process the ideas and solutions discussed which can then be explored and utilised by the brain to positive affect. This can also encourage a change in perspective. This collaborative and empowering approach is future-orientated, and therefore we focus on where you are now and what you want to achieve; rather than analysing the past.

There are multiple reasons why someone may turn to Hypnotherapy to help overcome specific personal issues and improve their overall well-being. Hypnotherapy supports individuals suffering from anxiety and stress, as well as in the areas of IBS and Weight Management, and due to its effectiveness, is recommended by GP’s, consultants and dieticians. It can also be extremely beneficial when seeking help to manage persistent fears, including fear of public speaking. It can be used in conjunction with medication.

A recent ‘Clinical Review’ of hypnosis and relaxation therapies published in the BMJ (British Medical Journal) concluded that ‘…there is good evidence from randomised controlled trials that both hypnosis and relaxation techniques can reduce anxiety […]’, the same report also concluded that hypnosis was proven to be effective in treating panic attacks and phobia.
